A beautiful church and I don´t see some contradiction between and be a Church inside rich place. I believe that the riches do not take away the deserving to be Christian, since that not let be slave of money.

  • A beautiful place of worship. Both the parish council and congregation are very friendly. Also a church steeped in Hollywood lore and history.

This is an update. Please don't mind any criticism. This church has meant the world to me since I first attended services in 1973. I plan on returning to the city when I retire and hope to become a member of the congregation.

All my love to God, this church and this city.

  • I had my doubts about attending mass in Beverly Hills, I didn't want to deal with stuck up people and all the stereotypes the rich have, but I gave it a chance. From the moment I first set foot in the church I truely felt like I was coming home. We have no other family in the area and The Church of the Good Shepherd is where I feel like I am welcome, accepted and wanted. My family has nothing in common with other people in the parish, other than being Catholic, but I don't feel any of that at the church or the socials we have attended. We have tried many, many other Catholic perishes in the area, and across the country, and this is the best (other than the Church I grew up in). Father Ed's homilies are always relevant and on point. Other Priests who hold mass from time to time are also relevant and bring the readings to today and relating to everyday life. Unfortunately Father Ed and Michelle are not able to stay on top of everything at every moment right now due to a very small staff and other responsibilities in the diocese. If you attend Mass you can be sure to feel the presence of Christ and come away with some ideas and understanding of how Christ is present and working and how you can make your life more relevant to following Christ. Any negative reviews can be reconsidered by trying to be more Christ like and filling in where the church is lacking to make the community more whole. You will not be disappointed in mass or the presence of Christ at the church. Everything outside of mass at a Catholic Church is a group project and takes participation from the community, if you see a need than fill it to make it better rather than criticizing and trying to turn others away. God Bless

I called in during the week to set up a wedding date. A woman named Michelle had answered the phone and set up an appointment to meet with A Father Ed. We went in on a Saturday, my fiancee and I to meet Father Ed to set up our wedding and date and to learn more about the church experience. Needless to say 2 weeks went by and we were waiting for Father Ed to get back to us on a few SIMPLE questions. I had called in because no one was responding to us. I had gotten Michelle back on the phone inquiring about the date we set with Father Ed as well as the unanswered questions from our first meeting. Michelle took my information and instructed me that she would be speaking with Father Ed after he got in AFTER 12 and she would then circle back with me on feedback. So, TWO days later I called back again for a 3rd time, still unaware of where my fiance and I stood with our Wedding date and our meeting with Father Ed. Michelle now picked up the phone and said " Why are you calling!, I told you I would get back with you when I hear something.." Now 4 weeks have transpired and still no response from anyone at this point. My poor sweet fiance called in and asked if she could speak Michelle. Michelle now at this screened her call and told the gentleman through the phone she has not heard anything and why are we calling back?
I urge anyone who is looking to find a church to call home, this is not the place. If you are looking for a Priest or front parish with INTEGRITY. This is not the place to call home. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CHURCH. They are the reason our Catholic church has a bad name, people like this who are careless. I am disappointed in this place Father Ed, Michelle and those in that parish that they do not take their roles more serious. I want people everywhere to know what the experience is like in this place, a Catholic born and raised that people. This is a careless Lot. You should be ashamed to call yourself a CHRISTIAN. By the way look at the other manufactured reviews included here they have no substance. Is this church employing people to post a review in their behalf??? WOW!!
from a concerned Born and raised Catholic who has spent his entire life apart of the St. Cyrils parish

  • I had the pleasure of conducting the baptism of my newborn at the Good Shepherd Church and found the experience intimate, meaningful and very professional. The administrative staff did a wonderful job handling protocols & logistics. Father Ed Benioff if a wonderful leader, with deep appreciation of his congregation and of the service his profession entails. I would highly recommend the Church of Good Shepherd for members of the Catholic faith and newcomers.
